Master Degree in Inter networking at Dalhousie University Canada

The Master of Engineering degree program in Internetworking at Dalhousie University is geared towards the following groups of people:

  • networking professionals already in the field who wish to increase the depth and breadth of their knowledge
  • those who wish to change their career path by entering the high-demand, high-paying field of networking
  • those fresh graduates who wish to make a career in networking.
For entry to this Master Degree Program in Internetworking (Computer Networks) prospective students must hold an undergraduate degree; the preferred degrees are Engineering (any discipline) and Applied Sciences. Graduates of this program will have a solid theoretical foundation as well as a solid technology experience, and will be positioned for success in many different facets of the networking industry. This is a course based Master Degree program that covers not only what the current technology is, but also why the technology is in its present form. It provides the theoretical background to analyze the shortcomings and strengths of the technology, its continuing evolution, and the challenges that lie ahead for the industry. A solid education to the master degree level is provided.

photoThis Master Degree program is nominally a 24 month program consisting of ten courses plus a mandatory technical report and oral presentation, and an elective project (N.B.compulsory for those enrolled prior to September 2003). The time to complete the master degree requirements is typically 18 to 24 months from date of first registration. Courses are offered in a set sequence and each course is considered a pre-requisite for following courses. Deviation from the posted schedule requires an order of courses approved by the Program Director as is the case for students wishing to carry a full load (2 courses per term) and take the full two years to complete the degree. Courses will be offered in a compressed two or three week format requiring a minimum of 160 hours of work per course.

The Master Degree program is offered in the Faculty of Engineering, Dalhousie University, under the auspices of the Faculty of Graduate Studies , in Halifax the provincial capital of Nova Scotia, Canada. The Director works with his team consisting of administrative staff, academics, technologists, and industrial partners to ensure the highest academic standard, and to enable the students to undertake a unique training opportunity using the program facilities. The academics are drawn from the Faculties of Computer Science and Engineering, and are supported by invited speakers from industry.

The total cost of the Master Degree program is reviewed annually and the current proposal may be seen under the fees page.

Before classes commence students must register for all Master Degree courses to be taken in any term.
Registration is checked 10 working days prior to each course and any student who is not registered at that time will not be permitted to attend classes.
