Brandon University
Canada

Be adventurous... be you
You can be yourself and get the attention you deserve
at BU because:
1. We have a low student-professor ratio
Class size does make a difference to academic success and enjoyment.
There are just 12 students for every professor and 63% of our classes
have fewer than 20 students.
2. We focus on undergraduate education
Receive the time and attention that only graduate research students
receive elsewhere.
Eighty percent of first-year students agree or strongly agree that our
professors treat them as individuals, not just numbers.
3. We are located in an ideal community
Brandon is a great place for a university. The warmth and friendliness
of the city permeates the campus: students are people at BU.
Ninety-three percent of first-year students report being satisfied or
very satisfied with their decision to attend Brandon University.
Moving to another country to study is a great adventure. You are
about to embark upon an educational experience that will extend far
beyond the classroom and Brandon University would like to be there to
help you make the most of your time in Canada.
Begin your journey with us.
Participating in the World Community
Brandon University welcomes
international students because it fully recognizes the invaluable
contribution they make to the maintenance of a universe of ideas and
values within our institution. At the same time, Brandon University has
a lot to offer to international students. In addition to the benefits of
our education system and personable campus that are enjoyed by all
students at the university, international students are provided with
services specific to their needs.
Office of International Activities
The University has established an office to serve the needs of its
international student body and to further promote and encourage the
internationalization of the institution. As the focus of international
activities at Brandon University, the office is responsible for
providing guidance and support to the International Student Organization
and the Brandon University Homestay/Hospitality Program.
English for Academic Purposes Program
International students interested in one of Brandon University’s degree
programs may need or would benefit from English language training. The
English for Academic Purposes Program is a non-credit, multi-level
language program designed to provide an immersion experience for
students interested in improving their listening, speaking, reading,
writing, and comprehension skills. The English language program is open
to students who plan to go on to study at any number of English-speaking
educational institutions and is also designed for those who want to
improve their use of English as a second language for professional or
personal purposes.
International students' advising
The International Students’ Advisor
provides assistance with academic advising, immigration concerns,
cultural adjustment, housing, and other matters which relate to students
from other countries. This office also advises the
International Students’ Organization
and serves as liaison to the Canadian Immigration
Service and other agencies involved with international educational
exchange.
